Regret | A Planetside Short Film

Regret was a collaborative project with a team consisting of six artists. The film was a narrative attempting to humanise the soldiers in the Planetside universe and highlight the emotional struggle they face due to their immortality. The short film consisted of three visual styles; gameplay footage, animated concept art and 3D scenes rendered in Maya. My role on the project was the environmental, lighting and shader work on Maya.

Each shot was rendered with flexibility in post production in mind. As such the subject of each shot had separate render passes to the rest of the scene and the director had complete control of the look of the shot if desired. This ranged from allowing the tweaking of specular levels to replacing all the light colours in a scene.
